The F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team, part of the United States Air Force, is an elite group of
pilots and support crews dedicated to showcasing the unique capabilities of the F-22 Raptor.
This team performs at airshows and events around the country, leaving audiences in awe with
their precise maneuvers and raw power displays.
The F-22 demo team doesn't just fly the aircraft; they push it to its limits.
Some signature maneuvers include:
Herbst Maneuver: A pitch-over move that showcases the Raptor's ability to flip over in the blink
of an eye.
Tail Slide: The aircraft pulls into a vertical climb, slows to a near stop, and then slides
backward.
High Alpha Pass: Demonstrating the Raptor’s ability to fly at a high angle of attack, where the
nose is pointed up, but the aircraft is moving forward only very slowly.
While the pilots often get the spotlight, it's essential to recognize the dedicated crew members
who ensure the Raptor is always ready for its next flight. Maintenance crews, engineers, and
other support staff are crucial in the day-to-day operations of the team.
