Developed in the 1970s as a response to the incoming Russian MiG-25, the McDonnell Douglas F-15 was intended to take hold of the skies in defense of the United States.

Developed in the 1970s as a response to the incoming Russian MiG-25, the McDonnell Douglas F-15 was intended to take hold of the skies in defense of the United States. With powerful engines, massive fuel capacity and deadly air-to-air capability, nothing would stand in the way of its superiority. By the time the MiG-25 was captured from a defected pilot, it was discovered that this menacing fighter was not as terrifying as it once appeared. It was heavy and cumbersome, with unreliable engines and poor turning performance. At this point, the F-15 was understood to have vastly out-developed its opposition, proving to be a monster on the battlefield with an undefeated air-to-air win ratio.

Adapted from the original F-15C airframe, the Strike Eagle took on conformal fuel tanks, more weapons pylons, and air-to-ground capability. The type retained the deadly combination of up to 6 of the AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles and a pair of agile AIM-9M Sidewinders, but now displayed dozens of bomb pylons and a targeting pod on the belly. It also added a second seat, with a Weapons Systems Operator who would designate and launch ground ordinance on targets. This additional crew member took a large amount of load off the front seat, leading to better situational awareness in battle.

Famously used in the Gulf War, the Strike Eagle was used to take on enemy SCUD launchers, but this specific aircraft was recognized for a slightly different reason. Registered as #89-0487, this F-15E took down an enemy Mi-24 helicopter with a laser guided bomb from above, rather than by using an air-to-air missile! Die-Cast version has an accurate paint scheme, etched panel lines, pad printed decals, optional landing gear and display stand to show the model in flight. Also includes the full set of weaponry, including 4 air-to-air missiles, guided bombs, targeting pods, and fuel tanks. Features interchangeable air intakes and deployable air-brake which can be set at different angles. Measures 10.75”l with a 7.25” wingspan at 1:72 scale.

  • Features a high-quality paint scheme, etched panel lines and pad printed decals that reflect #89-0487 in service for the 335th TFS during Desert Storm.
  • Antennas, reflective lights, and surface details have been carefully added to the model.
  • Includes deployed or retracted landing gear and display stand to show the model in flight configuration.
  • Features interchangeable air intakes and deployable air-brake which can be set at different angles on the model.
  • Has an opening canopy and pair of pilot figurines which can be placed in the cockpit.
  • Measures 10.75”l with a 7.25” wingspan at 1:72 Scale.
