Intended for defense of the US Navy’s carrier fleet, the F-14 Tomcat was high endurance, adaptable, and capable fighter for air superiority above enemy waters.

Intended for defense of the US Navy’s carrier fleet, the F-14 Tomcat was high endurance, adaptable, and capable fighter for air superiority above enemy waters. It featured new “Fox 3” active-radar missiles, variable sweep wings, and advanced flight controls which automatically tailored the jet to its flight envelope. It would fly into the books as a legendary interceptor and multi-role fighter alike, helped especially by its feature in the 1986 movie; Top Gun.

Designed with speed in mind, the variable sweep permitted for high speeds and high maneuverability in one complete package. The wings would come all the way out for low-speed handling, or sweep completely back to 68 degrees for maximum acceleration. Unfortunately, this advanced system led to increased complexity, tremendous weight, and unreliable nature due to its underperforming TF-30 powerplants. These attributes were somewhat combatted by the upgraded F-14B variant, which had new General Electric F-110 powerplants that improved on the otherwise lackluster acceleration. These later B and D models began to additionally take on new weaponry, increased payloads and targeting pods, leading to the type becoming a pseudo “multirole interceptor” for various different combat missions.

As one of four F-14D Tomcats that were operated by the VX-9 squadron, this plane was used to combat test the newer AIM-9M Sidewinder, AIM-7M Sparrow, and AIM-54C Pheonix designs before adoption by the USAF and Navy. Featuring a unique, all black camouflage with a bunny on the tail, the planes are widely recognized for their usage and inspired the modern livery that remains on the squadron’s F/A-18s. Die-Cast version has an accurate paint scheme, etched panel lines, pad printed decals, optional landing gear and display stand to show the model in flight. Features a full set of practice weaponry and variable “swinging” wings like the real F-14! Measures 10.25”l with a 10.75” wingspan at 1:72 scale.

  • Features a high-quality paint scheme, etched panel lines and pad printed decals that reflect “Vandy One” during its service at Nas Point Mugu.
  • Antennas, reflective lights, and surface details have been carefully added to the model, including the iconic playboy bunny on the vertical stabilizers.
  • Includes deployed or retracted landing gear and a display stand to show the aircraft in flight configuration, with swinging wings just like the real F-14!
  • Features a full set of practice weaponry, including AIM-54 Pheonix, AIM-9 Sidewinder, and AIM-7 Sparrow air to air missiles, and 3 types of guided bombs with a pair of fuel tanks.
  • Has an opening canopy and pair of pilot figurines which can be placed in the cockpit.
  • Measures 10.25”l with a 10.75” wingspan at 1:72 Scale.
  • Highly collectible and officially licensed by Northrop Grumman.
