Introduced in 1941, the B-24 Liberator was a faster, more powerful, and capable heavy bomber for use by every branch of the American armed forces. It attained a distinguished service record during the 1940s, operating in the Western European, Pacific, Mediterranean, and China/India theatres.

Introduced in 1941, the B-24 Liberator was a faster, more powerful, and capable heavy bomber for use by every branch of the American armed forces. It attained a distinguished service record during the 1940s, operating in the Western European, Pacific, Mediterranean, and China/India theatres. Compared to the B-17 which preceded it, the new Liberator was faster, carried more bombs, and could travel further distances with ease. Unfortunately, the new attributes also made the aircraft heavier, with stiff controls that made the type extremely difficult to fly in formation. Due to this, many groups still preferred the older Flying Fortresses, for their handling and damage resistance, something the B-24s could not boast. Regardless, the B-24 proved it’s worth by demonstrating excellent combat service in a variety of roles, with its huge payload and even precision guided weaponry, prototypes of which were tested from the Liberator, including the 1000 lb “Azon” guided bomb. By the end of WWII, the B-24 had become the most produced heavy bomber in history, with 18,400 manufactured, half of which being completed by the Ford Motor Company. Model kit replica includes photo etched pieces, engraved panel lines, waterslide decals and a detailed instruction booklet, with even the tiniest details carefully reproduced. Features a full interior with cockpit, turret positions, bomb racks, and landing gear, with three different selections of decals! Measures 17”l with a 27.5” wingspan at 1:48 scale. Requires glue for assembly.
