Once the largest aircraft in the world, the Antonov 225 is a mark of history into the incredible scale of flying machines.

Once the largest aircraft in the world, the Antonov 225 is a mark of history into the incredible scale of flying machines. Designed as a strategic derivative of the original Soviet AN-124 that once lifted the Buran shuttle orbiter, the AN-225 would be introduced for even larger projects, with a massive takeoff weight of over 600 tonnes. Development was begun in 1984, with the aircraft completed for its maiden flight in December of 1988. The completed cargo liner saw public debut in 1989, where it landed at the Paris Air Show with the Buran Shuttle strapped to its back just like this model.

The aircraft uniquely has six massive engines, producing about 52,000lbs of thrust each for a combined output of 312,000 on takeoff. This massive amount of power is necessary to propel the fully loaded aircraft to its service altitudes of up to 39,000 ft. Also unusual is the tail design of the 225, with twin rudders attached to the tips of each elevator. This permits clean air to reach the surfaces even with a load on the back, something a single stabilizer would not be able to provide.

Representing that same Antonov that made its debut with the Buran Shuttle Orbiter, this AN-225 carries the registration of CCCP-82060, which was used to transport the spacecraft. It has a matching white livery with decorative red striping and reflective aluminum leading edges, making quite a sight for any aviation enthusiast. Die-Cast version features the same decorative white livery, etched panel lines, printed details, and pre-installed landing gear. Also includes a high quality resin replica of the Buran Shuttle (measuring 3.5”l with a 2.5” wingspan) which attaches with a simple press-fit assembly process, no glue required! Plane measures 8.25”l with a 8.75” wingspan at 1:400 scale.

  • Features engraved panel lines, pad printed detailing, and accurate paint scheme reflective of the true Antonov AN-225 under registration 82060.
  • Includes pre-installed landing gear, support struts and a resin replica of the Buran orbiter carried by this Antonov.
  • Shuttle can be displayed separately or on the back of the model, with a very simple installation process and no glue required!
  • Measures 8.25”l with a 8.75” wingspan at 1:400 scale.
  • Highly collectible and officially licensed model.
