This Limited Edition Print depicts Lt. Ray Brooks final aerial victory during WWI in his SPAD XIII. Heavy fog shrouded the American airdrome at Souilly, France, on October 9th 1918. At noon it began to clear, allowing Lt. Brooks, to take off, leading seven other SPAD XIIIs of the 22nd Aero Squadron. They climbed out to 3,500 meters, setting their course for the Verdun area. At 1350 hours they spotted four German observation planes escorted by nearly a dozen Fokker D-IIs. In the ensuing battle Brooks would confirm his fifth and final victory during WWI ensuring his status as an Ace. Each Print is numbered and includes a Certificate of Authenticity and signed by the late Ray Brooks and artist Roy Grinnell. Measures about 30”w x 24”h.
