The A-1 Skyraider originated as a carrier-based torpedo and dive bomber. It was the first single-seat torpedo/dive bomber to serve with the Navy. The primary mission of the A-1 was close air support for ground troops because of its heavy ordnance load and accuracy. There were over 3,000 Skyraiders built in seven major models and 28 different versions. This 1:72 scale Die-Cast Model is replicated after A-1H VA-176 from the USS Intrepid in 1966. Features a hinged canopy that opens to reveal a detailed cockpit, realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels, surface details, interchangeable extended/retracted landing gear, and authentic detachable ordnance loads complete with placards. Includes a display stand. Measures 6.5”l with an 8.25” wingspan.
