One of the most enduring and versatile bombers ever, the B-25 Mitchell was a well revered and highly acclaimed bomber of WWII.

One of the most enduring and versatile bombers ever, the B-25 Mitchell was a well revered and highly acclaimed bomber of WWII. Its development was begun in March of 1939 to fit the target requested by the Army Air Corps. They requested a medium bomber that could carry a payload of at least 2,400lbs, over 1200 miles, at a speed of 300 miles per hour. North American Aviation managed to get their design airborne in August of 1940, with the first being accepted by the Army Air Corps in February of the following year. After some were created, a design flaw was discovered that created an iconic piece of the B-25’s shape. This “gull wing” design was necessary because it increased the stability of the aircraft more than a standard “dihedral” shape, originally worked into the plans of the Mitchell. After this was changed, plants in Kansas and California began churning out the aircraft, manufacturing almost 10,000 B-25s by 1945. During WWII, it served with numerous Allied air forces and saw action in every major theater, proving particularly effective in the Doolittle Raid in April of 1942. In this famous mission, these B-25s managed to fly off of a carrier and drop bombs directly onto the city of Tokyo, destroying a large portion of buildings, towers, and homes. The crew had to bail out over the coast of China, having no fuel left to get back home. This 1:72 scale Die-Cast Model is replicated after “Hari Kari-er,” a B-25 that participated in the Doolittle Raid, Model features accurate markings and insignias, rotating propellers, and includes a display stand. Measures 8.75” in length with a 11.25” wingspan.

• Moving turrets with detailed machine guns, with clear plastic, not printed, windows.
• Measures 8.75” in length with a 11.25” wingspan, a large presence for any collection.
• Strong metal landing gear support the aircraft when on display.
