First flying in 1967 as a development of the larger 707 model, the Boeing 737 was designed to augment the 727 model in short route travel.

First flying in 1967 as a development of the larger 707 models, the Boeing 737 was designed to augment the 727 models in short-route travel. Instead of the preceding four-engine arrangement, the new narrow-body configuration only has two engines, intended to increase efficiency at its size. Competing against the rival DC-9, MD-80, and MD-90 offerings, the 737 shattered expectations and was the highest-selling commercial aircraft for decades, only beaten in 2019 by the Airbus A320 family.

The 737-200 has a capacity of around 102 passengers in dual-class seating, or 115 with single-class seating and a crew of 2 in the cockpit. Range is around 3,000 miles with passengers onboard and the aircraft is powered by a pair of Pratt and Whitney JT8D engines. Total thrust is around 32,000 lbs combined on takeoff, with a service ceiling of 37,000 ft, a cruising speed of 544 mph, and a maximum weight of 128,100 lbs.

Though most of the early 737 type has been long since retired by 20th century, an airline called AVIATSA still operates a single 737-200 variant for routes in Honduras. While its time has long since passed, it serves as a relic of 70’s airliner history, flying just over 100 passengers on short-range flights. This Die-Cast version has an accurate paint scheme, etched panel lines, pad-printed decals, and detailed landing gear for display. Measures 3.25”l with a 3” wingspan at 1:400 scale.

• Features etched panel lines, printed decals, and livery of AVIATSA.
• Small antennas and surface detailing have been carefully replicated to reflect the true airliner’s design.
• Pre-installed detailed landing gear are included with the model.
• Measures 3.25”l with a 3” wingspan at 1:400 scale
